Red Coyote Running and Fitness opened in March 2010. Co-owners Burke and Jon Beck wanted to provide a unique customer experience by combining the only slow motion video gait analysis system in Oklahoma City with an unprecendented level of customer service. The name Red Coyote was inspired by the Beck’s dog, Pancho. He is part coyote and he loves to run. Pancho can sometimes be found in the store for special appearances.
The Becks have over 10 years of combined running specialty experience. Before opening Red Coyote they worked for Road Runner Sports. Most recently, Burke and Jon co-managed Road Runner’s flagship store in San Diego, which is the largest running store in the U.S. Burke and Jon met while Jon was a training and development manager at Road Runner and he opened 13 new retail stores across the country. They discovered they shared the dream of opening their own store someday, and moved back to Burke’s hometown of Oklahoma City to open Red Coyote. On top of opening Red Coyote, Burke and Jon were recently married on May 30th, 2010.
The Becks both have extensive backgrounds in running. Burke was a local high school standout at Casady and moved on to be a national caliber runner at Washington and Lee University. Jon attended high school in Fairport, NY where he was an All-State performer before moving on to Geneseo University in New York where he went on to become an NCAA Cross Country All-American. Running is still a part of the Becks' everyday lives.
